[That's not what makes a girlfriend the best. Someone sweet, someone smart; someone who made you feel like things were going to be okay.

Gwen wasn't that for him right now. He'd like to say he knew when that changed, but maybe it was gradual. The flip-outs and the jealousy and now Connors...

It felt like talking to Gwen was just a timebomb constantly waiting to blow up in his face. He just couldn't handle it right now, right after everything.]

[He isn't good at this Gwen. He isn't good at talking, he isn't good at it ever... and he so isn't good at it right now.

The problem with these texts were that he couldn't ignore them. He tried to, tried to close his eyes again and rest and pretend he didn't hear the beep. Then he'd give up, read it and put it back down. Pretend he didn't want to reply.

But Peter was in a bad place right now. He was irrational, he was angry-- really, he was just hurt.

Spoiler: That didn't make him any better at talking about it, it just made him braver and sloppier about it.]
